DINNER DATE with JULIE HARRIS and RUBY DEE ---
I arrived to pick up JULIE AND RUBY for dinner tonight and they were in the lobby rehearsing intently. They were discussing their scenes, reading the lines, entrenched in the material. I felt so many things in that moment. Sheer joy that such respected talent was delving into and investing so much into a script I had written, and humility at the task at hand. Making a film brings much responsibility and doing a film like this about values and goodness must be treated with extra special care. After dinner we went back to their rooms and spent more time discussing their major scenes and it was something I will never forget. In the AM, Julie and I will act together again as we are doing the scenes where she shows me my room for the first time in eight years. Can't wait!!
